Samsung recently launched its flagship pair Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus and the company expects sales of the Galaxy S9 will be higher than the Galaxy S8. Today, DJ Koh, President, and Head of IT & Mobile Communications Division, Samsung Electronics, confirmed that a voice-activated speaker with Bixby is on its way in second half of this year.
“Samsung’s AI speaker will be more than speaking to the machine and listening to music,” Koh said. “The speaker will not be a single hub, but be one of many platforms such as TV, refrigerator and other appliances that form a true Internet of Things environment.”
As first reported by the Wall Street Journal, Samsung will release a “premium” Bixby smart speaker in the second half of 2018. DJ Koh said pricing is not yet finalized, but the home appliance might come in different tiers.
