Samsung says that the Galaxy Fold is ready and it will be released in September. “Samsung has taken the time to fully evaluate the product design, make necessary improvements and run rigorous tests,” the company said in a statement.
The South Korean giant says that the foldable smartphone is undergoing final product tests to make it available to consumers in “select markets”.
Improvements include extending a protective layer to make it clear it is not meant to be removed, as well as strengthening the hinge area with new protection caps.
Samsung confirmed that the price of the device will remain the same as before at $1,980. The foldable phone was launched alongside the Galaxy S10 in February. Days before the phone’s release, early reviewers reported issues with the screen of the Galaxy Fold which included flickering, freezing, and a total blackout. Later, Samsung decided to delay the release of the Fold to fix the issues.
