Samsung recently announced that Galaxy S10 will come with Bixby key customization feature, the company also said that this feature will be provided to older flagship phones running on Android 9.0 Pie. Well, Samsung has completed its promise because this feature is now rolling out this feature as an update to Bixby app.
With this update, users on the supported flagship, can customize Bixby key and remap it with an installed app or quick command. This customization can be applied between single and double press to Bixby Key to open a particular app or a quick command.
Although, this feature doesn't completely removes Bixby from the throne and only allows users to add an additional action to this button. Whether you select single or double press action to map an app launch, the other action will automatically be used to launch Bixby. On top of this, you can only select one option between single and double press.
For example: If a user chooses the single press to map an app, the double press will be used to launch Bixby. On the other hand, if the user chooses the double press to map an app, the single press will be used to launch Bixby.
To get this feature on your Galaxy device, go Galaxy Apps store > My apps > Update, and from here download the Bixby related updates.
After the update is completed, launch it by the Bixby key, head into Settings > Bixby key > Choose from the followings.
Single press to open Bixby - Double press to select an App or a Quick Command.
Double press to open Bixby - Single press to select an App or a Quick Command.
Note: Long hold on Bixby key will not be affected by this feature.
