Samsung’s foldable display market expected to rise by 2022

Samsung Display is working on Foldable display technology which is expected to be introduced in the first quarter of 2019 alongside Samsung’s new device with a flexible screen.

According to Display Supply Chain Consultants (DSCC), an industry tracker, the foldable display market will start slow. Reaching 3.1 million units in 2019, as Samsung Electronics and its Chinese rival Huawei scheduled to launch foldable smartphones.

The slow start of the Foldable display market is reportedly being due to the limited production of display panels units, Which is expected to be increased throughout 2019.

The report claims that the volume will grow to 63 million units in 2022 as costs and prices fall and availability improves, enabling the foldable panels to expand into tablets, notebooks, and other products. Revenue will rise at a compound annual growth rate of 151 percent to reach $8.9 billion in 2022.
