Samsung recently filed trademark applications at USPTO for Gear 360 panoramic camera and virtual-reality headset Gear VR, under the respective names Galaxy 360 and Galaxy VR. Indicating that the company may say goodbye to its Gear brand.
The change in the names suggests that Samsung could produce panoramic cameras and virtual-reality headsets as part of its Galaxy brand. Back in August, Samsung introduced a new smartwatch as Galaxy Watch, which is the proceeder of Gear S3 and speculated to be released as Gear S4 but didn’t happen.
Recently, Samsung has also filed a trademark application for its upcoming ‘Galaxy Buds’. As the company’s latest move shows the new change is part of its efforts to raise awareness of its Galaxy brand alongside a possible farewell to its Gear brand.
