Folks, Sprint is rolling out an important software update for its Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ smartphones. This update includes the October 2018 security patch (jumped from August update,) and VoLTE support for both devices.
The Calling Plus feature will no longer be available following this software update. Simultaneous voice & data will only be available when connected to Wi-Fi or when VoLTE becomes available in your market.
You can switch on VoLTE by going into Settings > Connections > Voice networks. From there, you can toggle VoLTE on or off.
The software version of this update is G950USQU5CRIB and G955USQU5CRIB for the Galaxy S8 and S8+ respectively.
What is VoLTE? It allows you to make calls over your LTE connection instead of a standard voice network. Not only do VoLTE calls connect faster than standard voice calls, but because of the added bandwidth, they also sound clearer.
