Report: Galaxy S10’s ‘triple-lens’ camera system will improve Samsung’s profit

The South Korean company, Samsung Electronics, is preparing its next year flagship series — the Galaxy S10 series – with some unique features.

The company is reportedly preparing to bring smartphones with the three rear-facing camera system.

The new report claims, the anticipated deployment of the triple-lens camera system in the next year’s flagship device will improve the profits of the company.

“Samsung Electronics will fast respond to the latest smartphone camera trend by adopting the triple-lens camera system for its flagship models early next year,” said Kim Ji-san, an analyst from Kiwoom Investment & Securities.

According to Kim, the adoption of the triple-lens camera system will improve Samsung’s profit in the coming months. It could be true because the price of the triple-lens camera systems is more expensive than the single-lens or dual-lens counterparts.

If a single-lens camera system costs say, US$10 per unit to produce, then the dual-lens and triple-lens camera systems cost US$30 and US$50, respectively.

In July, the company said its 10% (approx.) smartphones will come with the triple-lens camera. Additionally, Samsung Electronics will gain more profit from the supply of the high-end camera modules to Chinese smartphone makers.

Samsung will release its first 5G phone in early 2019, but it will not be the Galaxy S10

In the past, a report indicates Samsung is planning to launch Galaxy S10 during MWC 2019 in February. It is also rumored to be preparing a foldable smartphone for CES launch in January next year.
