Rumor: Galaxy Watch (Gear S4) could come with Wear OS, 470mAh battery and new UX

Recently Samsung’s upcoming smartwatch has received its certification via the ECC (Eurasian Economic Commission), indicating that the company may be preparing its device for launch.

Nothing is officially confirmed by the company, but we are continuously hearing rumors about the Galaxy Watch (or Gear S4). According to the latest rumor, we could have a new Samsung smartwatch running Google’s Wear OS instead of Tizen.

A new Samsung smartwatch will probably be called the ‘Galaxy Watch’ and packs a 470mAh battery, a panel level package (PLP) chip, as well as a new UX interaction and blood pressure measurement system.

This rumor comes from Ice Universe, states:

“About Gear S4 (probably called Galaxy Watch) Based on Android Wear, 470mAh battery, PLP package, it is expected to have new UX interaction and blood pressure measurement.”

The rumor of a Galaxy Watch running Google’s Wear OS surfaced in May through well-informed industry source Evan Blass, who tweeted about Samsung employees being seen wearing Gear watches running Wear OS instead of Tizen.

Then Even Blass followed up soon after stating that these watches were simply one-offs created by Google for Samsung employees.

You can never be sure that a device exists until it goes official, so take it with a grain of salt until otherwise stated.

The upcoming Samsung Gear smartwatch is expected to launch alongside the Galaxy Note 9 on August 9.
